The role of social media in an events strategy

During the pandemic the world shut down, events went online and social media was used as a tool to drive traffic. Now with the world reopening, social media is still proving to be a valuable asset in driving exposure to offline events.

What are the benefits of integrating social media into your events strategy?

  1. Reaching a wide pool of people quickly – We recognise the value of word-of-mouth so to reach a wide pool of people quickly, we attained 15 influencers to attend the CEE Media Summit 2021 for our client OPPO. Utilising electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM), we were able to establish a loyal online community and increase exposure of our client’s presence at the event.
  1. Increasing exposure of an ethos – A chain of text posts, images, videos and tweets – all help demonstrate our client’s ethos, increasing its exposure. The Aircraft Cabin Innovation Summit 2022 is a prime example where we secured media exposure to cover the event in publications and on social media. John Walton, freelance writer for the Runway Girl Network and other publications, covered interesting aspects of the summit on his Twitter feed. His tweets earned tons of media impression drawing more attention to the summit and its ethos. Like John, other journalists posted during RedCabin’s summit, increasing its exposure.
  1. Generating leads – Social media not only allows us to provide value to the end user, but also allows the end user to engage back with our clients.Through organic efforts, we generated genuine interest among travel risk managers and had more than 50 attendees at our exclusive networking event with Simon Calder, for our client Global Secure Accreditation. This not only increased awareness of our client, but it also opened doors to conversations which could turn into new leads for GSA.

Social media is an essential part of the marketing mix and can deliver brand awareness, increased interest in events and hot sales leads! If you feel your brand is not exploiting it to the full then get in touch to discuss how we can take your social media strategy to the next level!
